This book takes place at the same time as The Storm but from a different brothers perspective. I have enjoyed this series from the start.

For me Michael Connelly consistently tells a great story. Harry Bosh is a character who I have journeyed with for many years. We have gotten to see how time and age have made Harry who he is, and why he keeps going.

Harry Bosch has been given three years before he must retire from the LAPD, and he wants cases more fiercely than ever. In one morning, he gets two.

DNA from a 1989 rape and murder matches a 29-year-old convicted rapist. Was he an eight-year-old killer or has something gone terribly wrong in the new Regional Crime Lab? The latter possibility could compromise all of the lab's DNA cases currently in court.

Then Bosch and his partner are called to a death scene fraught with internal politics. Councilman Irvin Irving's son jumped or was pushed from a window at the Chateau Marmont. Irving, Bosch's longtime nemesis, has demanded that Harry handle the investigation.

Relentlessly pursuing both cases, Bosch makes two chilling discoveries: a killer operating unknown in the city for as many as three decades, and a political conspiracy that goes back into the dark history of the police department.

This is the 3rd book in the Dirk & Steele series. The book has 282 pages on the Nook. I liked this book the story moves at a fast pace but it took longer for me to get into the story then the first book did. I think that all the characters in the Dirk & Steele detective agency are interesting and like finding out more about them and their powers.

This time it's clairvoyant Dean Campbell, set on the trail of a nonhuman criminal in Taipei who is flagrantly setting people on fire. Also in Taiwan is anthropologist Mirabelle "Miri" Lee, who makes a rare discovery at an archaeological site: a 4,000-year-old piece of red jade, embedded in the body of a mummy. When Dean and Miri meet up, it's a shock: Twenty years ago, they were best friends -- beginning to be teenage lovers -- when an accident killed Miri. Or so Dean thought. Now someone is being paid to kidnap Miri and steal the jade. On the way to finding the murderer, Dean discovers an old love, an older magic, and the beginnings of a new future.

This book is the first in the Dirk & Steele series. Book has 272 pages on the Nook. I Liked this first novel by Marjorie M. Liu. She introduces us into a world of magical, paranormal and shape shifting characters. Dela is a metal artist with an affinity to metal, while Hari is a shape shifter, these two meet right out of the box. The story will keep you reading at a good pace.

He looks out of place in Dela Reese's Beijing hotel room- exotic and poignant, some mythic, tragic hero of an epic tale. With his feline yellow eyes, he's like nothing from her world. Yet Dela has danced through the echo of his soul and knows this warrior will obey her every command.

Hari has been used and abused for millennia. But he sees, upon his release from the riddle box, that this new mistress is different. There is a hidden power in Dela's eyes- and with her, he may regain all that was lost to him. Where once he savaged, now he must protect; where once he only knew hatred, now he must embrace love. For me this was a short book, on the Nook it was 119 pages. The story was not as developed as I would have liked. In this story we didn't get to see the romance develop, so I didn't have much feelings either way for these characters. Maybe if the story were longer we would of had a chance to know these two better.

Millie Brown has loved Peter Sheridan for as long as she could remember, and there is nothing more she wants than to be his wife, but no matter how hard she tries, he pushes her away. Find out just how far she is willing to go for “For the Love of Pete”.

I enjoyed this Scottish romance. Kate Campbell and Callum MacGregor are both well defined characters. The story sweeps you right along in a family fight between the Campbells and the MacGregors.

This story is a fast easy read that can hold your attention. The story is well developed for a novella.

Feeling deceived and betrayed into a loveless marriage, Lord Reese Harrington wants nothing to do with his new wife.
