An Unwanted Hunger

An Unwanted HungerAn Unwanted Hunger by Ciana Stone

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

For me this book was all over the place. The premise could have developed into a great story, but never quite made it. Resa and Constantine were interesting characters but the interaction between them seemed forced. There was not enough development of the characters for me to believe the feelings between them.

I finished the book but didn't enjoy it.

Since this was the first book I have read by Ciana Stone I will give her writing another chance.

Angel's Peak

Angel's Peak (Virgin River #9)Angel's Peak by Robyn Carr

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Robyn Carr's Virgin River novels have characters that are warm, funny & flawed, yet they work to overcome and survive what life has thrown at them. They come together as a community, as a family. This book starts with Sean Riordan's Story, mixes in some Ellie & Noah and even a little about Sean's mom Maureen. There are appearances from others in this series also.

Sean has settled down in spite of himself - he's not the cocky young fighter pilot he was when Franci left, and he wants them to try again. After all they have a history...but that's not all they share.

Franci's secret reason for walking away when Sean refused to commit is now three and a half ; a redheaded cherub named Rosie who shares her daddy's emerald green eyes. Sean is stunned - and furious with Franic for the deception.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Her future stretched out like the clear blue Texas sky.

But a storm is coming.

In Too Deep

In Too Deep (Looking Glass Trilogy, #1; Arcane Society, #10)In Too Deep by Jayne Ann Krentz

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In Too Deep is the 10th in the Arcane Society novels. These have been written under Jayne Ann Krentz, Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle. These are easy to read novels that have interesting paranormal characters. If you have read any of the other Arcane Society novels you know what your going to get with this one. So set back and enjoy the visit into Fallon's life.

This is Fallon Jones story.

When Fallon Jones took over the family business he moved Jones & Jones headquarters to Scargill Cove, a secluded coastal town in northern California. As a confirmed recluse and investigator of the paranormal this cove suited him just fine. It seems the cove is a hot spot, a convergence point for unusually strong currents of energy which might explain why the town draws misfits and drifters like moths to a flame.

Isabell Valdez is used to changing apartments, jobs, names and even social security numbers at a drop of a hat - but this is too much. She's been framed by some very dangerous men. And now they have sent their thugs after her. She would be dead if her gift of intuition hadn't told her to run.

Now she has found employment with Fallon Jones.

The President's Vampire

The President's Vampire (Nathaniel Cade #2)The President's Vampire by Christopher Farnsworth

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is not your average vampire book. Nathaniel Cade has taken a oath to the presidents of the united states. He is their nightmare pet. Cade handles special threats, some that none of us could imagine.
Zack Barrows is Cade's handler. Zack is human. The interaction between Zack & Cade is interesting and sometimes makes you just have to laugh.

This is the second book in the series and I look forward to the next.

When a new outbreak of an ancient evil, one that Cade has seen before - comes to light, he and Zack must track down it's source.
Protect and serve often means settling old scores and confronting new betrayals... as only a century old predator can.

Until Tuesday

Until TuesdayUntil Tuesday by Luis Carl Montalvan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is an interesting look at service dogs and their companions. The book is a true telling of Fmr. Capt. Luis Carlos Montalvan's tours in Iraq, his injuries and returning to life as a disabled civilian.
The story is just as much about Tuesday a golden retriever with some problems of his own.

It was enlightening how service dogs are trained, work and help disabled people live more full lives.
It was also a reminder of our wonderful military men & women need our support and help. No matter what your political views are this is a story worth reading.

You cannot help but love Tuesday and hope Luis achieves his goals out west in the near future.

The Cypress House

The Cypress HouseThe Cypress House by Michael Koryta

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book by Michael Koryta I have read. The story is well written and draws you into the time and place. The story builds suspense and tension that leads you through to the end.
I will definitely be reading more by Michael Koryta.

Arlen Wagner has seen it in men before - a trace of smoke in their eyes that promises imminent death. He is never wrong.

When Arlen awakens on a train one hot Florida night and sees death's telltale sign in the eyes of his fellow passengers, he tries to warn them. Only nineteen year old Paul Brickhill believes him and the two abandon the train hoping to escape the doom.
