I just read this article in the Wall Street Journal. Is there no safe place without ads ?

They are thinking of put ads on your e-reader when you download ebooks.

The article goes on to say that some of the authors will have to approve of the ads first. I know for may years books have had inserts for book clubs in the center of the book, you could either tear them out or just turn past them. But now they are thinking of targeting ads for specific items. just like they do on your computer.

It will be interesting to see where this idea goes in the future. I for one think if I pay for a book or movie or anything else, I don't want to see advertising. If they are giving away the item then I have a choice to view the advertising or not take the item. This I could live with. But to tell me I have to buy a book with advertising to read my favorite author, well maybe I don't buy form that publisher anymore.

What do you think ? Are we so use to advertising when we go to the movies or watch TV that we let them add advertising to our books ?

If they truly want e-books to take off maybe they should wait on the ads. Okay just my opinion.
