the Heir

The Heir (Duke's Obsession #1)The Heir by Grace Burrowes

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I think this is a good first novel for Grace Burrowes.

I like regency & historical novels and the story line in this one is good. I liked her group of characters. The Earl, his brothers, Anna and her sister.

My only problem with the book is some of the wording got a little awkward at times. The first 50 pages were probably the slowest for me. After that the story started moving along better.

The Earls brothers both Dev & Val look to be interesting characters that I would like to see developed. They will be in the second & third novels.

Blue Sage (Western Lovers: Ranch Rogues, #2)Blue Sage by Anne Stuart

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love Anne Stuart's writing. This is the story of Charles Tanner Jr. and his coming to terms with tragic actions of his father. Finding peace with the past and the ability to love now.

Charles Tanner Jr. walked into Morey's Falls Montana realizing he was lighting a fuse on a powder keg. He knew his appearance would reignite the townspeople's pain and anger over his fathers actions- especially for Ellie Lundquist, the only surviving victim.

Dear Maggie (Harlequin Superromance No. 987)Dear Maggie by Brenda Novak

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Even thought this book was first published in 2001, I just read it. Brenda Novak was a great writer of romance in 2001 and has just gotten better over the years with her writing of romantic suspense.

In this book Maggie Russell is a police reporter in Sacramento, working the night shift. She's divorced with a 3 year old son. Maggie has finally stumbled on the big story that can truly establish her as a reporter, but it may end her life.

What Maggie doesn't know is that Nick's an undercover FBI agent tracking a killer and keeping an eye on Maggie, at work and through email as John. Maggie doesn't know she's falling in love with a man who's not what he seems to be. A man who's deceptions may save her life.

Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, #2) (Were-Hunter, #1)Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this book years ago in paperback and didn't realize that it had been reissued in September of 2010 in hardcover. So I bought the hard cover thinking it was a new book, until I started reading it.

I greatly enjoy all the Dark Hunter and Were Hunter books. I can say after rereading this one the stories only get better!

A Tailor made bride by Karen Witemeyer

A Tailor-Made BrideA Tailor-Made Bride by Karen Witemeyer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Tailor made bride is a first novel for writer Karen Witemeyer. This is a sweet old fashion christian romance. To me the story got a little slow in a few places then picked up.

The SearchThe Search by Nora Roberts

Before this, the last Nora Roberts book I read was the Bride Quartet series. (great series if you haven't read it ) I forgot how comfortable it can be to sink into a romantic suspense book by Nora Roberts.

Mercy Burns by Keri Arthur

Mercy Burns (Myth and Magic, #2)Mercy Burns by Keri Arthur

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Keri Arthur is a writer that I continue to read. I have read her books and enjoy them. Mercy Burns is the second book in the myth and magic series.

I did like this book but I didn't feel a connection to Mercy & Muerte. Maybe Muerte need to be developed a little more for me to connect with or I needed to feel more of an attraction between them, but I will look forward to the next in the series.

Mercy Burns is a reporter in the San Francisco area, but she is also half woman half dragon. Unable to shape shift but able to control fire energy unlike others. When Mercy's friend Rainey is killed while trying to uncover a story Mercy must now find the killer: to free Rainey's soul or she will become earth bound.

While on the run she encounters Muerte, a sexy stranger that she now must join forces with, but can he keep her alive long enough to fine the killer.
